Inside the World Cup Stadium : Exploring Leyard's Outdoor Displays

2026.06.26

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is in full swing, and all eyes are on Mexico's legendary Estadio Azteca — the only stadium in history to host three World Cups. Behind its full-scale visual transformation stands one name: Leyard.Over 2,200m²of Leyard's outdoor display solutions made their World Cup debut here — powering every score, replay, and live moment at the highest level, and setting a new visual benchmark for global sports events.

Built for the Extreme. Engineered for Zero Failure.

Mexico's high-altitude conditions are unforgiving: intense UV, seasonal humidity, sharp temperature swings, and strong winds across an open stadium. Leyard engineered a three-dimensional defense — protection, stability, and visual performance — to meet World Cup's zero-margin-for-error standard.

  • Environmental Resilience — IP65 + Breathable Valve, Dual Barrier

Outer-layer IP65 seals out dust and rain. Inside, an innovative breathable valve design maintains airtight protection while balancing internal pressure, blocking moisture, and accelerating heat dissipation. Through tropical rain and scorching sun, the system stays stable — with a typical lifespan of 100,000 hours.

  • System Reliability — Star Topology, Clean Architecture

A star-topology connection design eliminates the daisy-chain risk of single-point failure. Integrated aviation-style power and signal connectors reduce cable clutter, keeping the setup clean and efficient. The separated module and power design isolates modules from temperature fluctuations, while advanced thermal calibration ensures image uniformity even in extreme heat. Front-access installation also enabled fast deployment within the stadium's tight renovation window.

  • Visual Impact — True-to-Life, Immersive, Broadcast-Ready

3840Hz ultra-high refresh rate ensures zero motion blur during high-speed plays, crowd waves, and light shows — every broadcast frame is razor-sharp. DCI-P3 color gamut keeps Mexico's blue skies and vibrant jerseys consistent across global feeds, delivering a truly immersive visual experience to audiences worldwide.

A Custom Display Matrix, Inside and Out.

With 88,000 seats, a curved architectural profile, and deep cultural heritage, Estadio Azteca demanded more than off-the-shelf solutions.

Leyard planned a zoned, stadium-wide display system aligned with sightlines and crowd flow: north and south main screens, two inner curved immersive displays, outdoor landmark screen, and four pillar displays — over 2,200m² working as one visual matrix. The result is total coverage that deepens in-stadium immersion and extends World Cup energy out into the city.
